What They Don’t Tell You Before Moving To Los Angeles
Rule 1: You have to leave parties at a designated time
Having only lived in Los Angeles for one short year, I can only speak for my momentary experience of being an Angelino transplant. I’m sure my discoveries and perceptions would also be drastically different had I worked as a lawyer, nurse or mingled more with born-and-bred Californians rather than Hollywood wannabees (myself included).
Having said that, I took away many things (more than just bad traffic) from my time in Cali, both fabulously positive as well as frighteningly negative — however, I hope that the below act as a friendly warning for anyone thinking of moving to Southern California’s most famous city.
The rumours are true; people are fake
Don’t get me wrong, I did meet a lot of wonderful people in the city of dreams — ones who I still remain friends with today.
In general, people were open, kind, and extremely chatty, which, coming from London (where everyone avoids small talk at all costs) was overwhelmingly refreshing. In saying that, I also came across the most bizarre behaviour that I had ever witnessed.
