London is addictive in nature and delightfully soul hardening, and as much as I can try to explain to you, what it’s like to be A Londoner — it is something that can only be fully understood once experienced.

Having said that, there is more to know before you arrive at Heathrow than the generic ‘looking out for foxes’ (which are completely harmless and come out only at night), ‘being prepared for rain’ (just get in the habit of carrying a brolly) and that jaywalking is perfectly legal (ie. the ‘I’m a foreigner from the UK’ excuse I’d use whenever stopped by the LAPD in the US).

Everywhere is an hour away

If you’ve researched anything about London, I’m sure you’ve seen our famous ‘mind the gap’ slogan plastered on just about everything from t-shirts to mugs to bedding.

TFL (Transport For London) is a big part of London culture and the tube is faster, more reliable and more affordable than any other mode of transport you could use in the British capital (and probably the entire world, if you ignore the affordability part).
